The Student: All About Jamie

These are questions commonly asked about the Student in the SETT process. The next sections simulate discussions in each of the 3 areas and solicit information that will help you "discover more" about Jamie's situation. Answers to puzzles can be found in examining answers to these questions more carefully.

1. How does Jamie learn best? What are his Strengths and learning Styles?

Teacher: He pays best attention and is most involved when materials are very visual- especially with multimedia presentations where vision is mixed with sound and movement (animation).

Parent: He loves TV programs- we only allow 2 hours each day and heís getting pretty good at a video games at his cousin's house.

Teacher:Enjoys relating experiences; things he has done, stories he has read, TV programs he has seen.

Special Educator: When working 1-on-1 with aide or another child.

Instructional Aide: He likes to hear and see what is written; and needs to "do" within activities; sitting and paying attention for more than a few minutes without doing something is hard for him. He is very verbal and usually dictates his written work to me so I can write it down.
