To Discover more about the student in the story, the entire
IEP team-including family members-- need to meet and share
information about the Jamie, the Student, his learning
Environments and finally, and the specific Tasks
that he is expected to address. This information will provide
a clear picture of Jamie's needs before you identify the features
of the Assistive Technology Solutions. Learn how to
use this SETT Process to determine appropriate AT choices
as well as classroom strategies!
These are questions commonly asked about the Student, Environment
and school or home related Tasks in the SETT process. The
next sections simulate discussions in each of the 3 areas
and solicit information that will help you "discover
more" about Jamie's situation. Answers to puzzles can
be found in examining answers to these questions more carefully.
Using the AT Planner
Following each exercise you will be asked to select relevant
problems or issues to enter into your AT plan for Jamie. There
is also room to write in your own responses based on the story
and discussion. These should be the priority issues you wish
to work with and could resemble those you are struggling with
in your own classroom.
